Singham Again Trailer Released: A Glimpse of Sri Lanka’s Unique Temple

The trailer for Singham Again has finally arrived, ending fans’ long wait. Released on Monday, October 7, the highly anticipated action film is directed by Rohit Shetty and features an impressive ensemble cast, including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Jackie Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff. Scheduled for a Diwali release, Singham Again comes 10 years after Singham Returns.

While the trailer has taken social media by storm, one particular sequence stands out amid the thrilling car chases and gun-toting cops: Ajay Devgn’s character visiting a temple in Sri Lanka.

Unique Temple Featured in Singham Again

In a notable scene around the 3:22 mark, Ajay Devgn visits a temple as a female voiceover reveals that this is the only temple in Sri Lanka where Sita Maa is worshipped. She explains that wherever Lord Hanuman set foot, imprints remain, highlighting a giant footprint on the ground near Sita Maa’s temple. This temple is identified as the Seetha Amman Temple, also known as Seetha Eliya Seethai Amman Thirukkovil or Ashok Vatika Sita Temple.

Located in Nuwara Eliya, Central Sri Lanka, the temple showcases Tamil architectural styles. According to the Ramayana, it is believed that Sita was brought to this location by King Ravana after her abduction. The soil in the temple area is notably black, which is said to be a result of Lord Hanuman charring the ground before leaving Sri Lanka. A stream nearby is believed to be where Sita Devi bathed and attended to her daily needs.

No Entrance Fee Required

Approximately 2 kilometers southeast of the temple lies the Hakgala Botanical Garden, which is said to have been created by Ravana for Sita. This garden attracts tourists and devotees year-round, honoring her patience and endurance.

Visiting the temple is free, but participants wishing to take part in a puja or service must purchase a ticket costing around 100–200 Sri Lankan Rupees. Puja timings are from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

Singham Again is set to hit cinemas on November 1, 2024.
