Port City Colombo (PCC) recently hosted a notable business networking session with Lord Marland, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), on February 19, 2024, at the Port City Colombo Sales Gallery. Serving as a strategic platform for PCC to unveil its upcoming investment opportunities, this event highlighted Lord Marland’s steadfast endorsement of PCC’s investment promotion efforts through CWEIC, aiming to attract potential investors globally, particularly from the Commonwealth nations.
The event, attended by State Minister of Investment Promotion, Hon. Dilum S. Amunugama, alongside various dignitaries representing state and business interests, showcased Lord Marland’s praise for Sri Lanka’s resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and welcoming hospitality during his welcome address. Emphasizing the nation’s positive economic growth of 1.6%, Lord Marland described Sri Lanka as ‘a nation on the move,’ steadily advancing towards increased prosperity. He lauded PCC’s significant achievements in meeting key project milestones, such as the marina promenade, and highlighted upcoming signature developments set to commence in 2024 despite the challenges of the past two years. Lord Marland expressed CWEIC’s strong support to position Port City Colombo as a premier investment destination, concluding with the assertion that “Port City Colombo will be a winner for those who participate in it.”
