The 96th Academy Awards, held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, witnessed a sweeping victory for “Oppenheimer,” which secured a total of seven Oscars, including the highly coveted Best Picture and Best Director awards for Christopher Nolan. The film also earned accolades for Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Cinematography, Editing, and Score.

“Barbie,” the counterpart of the dual box-office phenomenon Barbenheimer, received eight nominations but secured only one win for Best Song with “What Was I Made For?”

Other notable winners included “Poor Things,” which scooped awards for Hair and Makeup, Production Design, and Costume Design. Cillian Murphy continued his winning streak by claiming the Best Actor award, having previously triumphed at the 2024 Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for his role in “Oppenheimer.”

In a surprising upset, Emma Stone took home the Best Actress award for her performance in “Poor Things,” beating out Lily Gladstone, the first Native American nominated for Best Actress for her role in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

Hosted by comedian and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel for the second consecutive year, the ceremony showcased outstanding achievements in the film industry and celebrated the diverse talents of the nominees.
