Emmy Awards 2024 Nominations Include Stars from Baby Reindeer and The Crown
Scottish comedian Richard Gadd, creator of the controversial Netflix series Baby Reindeer, leads this year’s Emmy nominations with three nods for acting, writing, and producing.
Jessica Gunning, who portrays stalker Martha in the series, also received a nomination for acting, alongside co-stars Nava Mau (Teri) and Tom Goodman-Hill (Darrien).
Baby Reindeer has garnered a total of 11 nominations. The most nominated series is the Japan-set samurai epic Shogun with 25 nominations, while The Bear has set a record for a comedy program with 23 nominations.
In the drama category, Imelda Staunton is nominated for Best Lead Actress for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in the final series of the Netflix royal drama The Crown. Other nominees from The Crown include Jonathan Pryce (Prince Philip), Dominic West (Prince Charles), Elizabeth Debicki (Princess Diana), and Lesley Manville (Princess Margaret).
Claire Foy, who played Elizabeth II in the first two series, received a nomination for Best Guest Actress for her return in a final scene reflecting on the monarch’s life.
Olivia Colman, another former lead actress from The Crown, is nominated for her role as Chef Terry in the US restaurant drama The Bear, which has a total of 10 acting nominations.
Among other British nominees are Idris Elba for Hijack, Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden for Slow Horses, Tom Hollander for Feud, Jonathan Bailey for Fellow Travelers, Michaela Coel for Mr & Mrs Smith, Matt Berry for What We Do in the Shadows, and Juno Temple for Fargo.
In the comedy category, central cast members Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez from Only Murders in the Building are nominated, alongside Meryl Streep for her role in season three.
The Emmys, the most prestigious honors in the US TV industry, will announce the winners on September 15.
