SpaceX and NASA Announce Crew-9 Mission Launch Date Following FAA Clearance

SpaceX and NASA announced on Friday their plan to launch the Crew-9 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) no earlier than August 18.

This announcement follows the Federal Aviation Administration’s clearance of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket to return to space. The rocket had been grounded earlier this month due to a rare mid-flight failure that resulted in the loss of a payload of Starlink satellites, marking the first such failure in over seven years for the world’s most frequently used rocket.

The Crew-9 mission will be NASA and SpaceX’s ninth crew rotation to the ISS. The mission will feature NASA astronauts Zena Cardman, Nick Hague, Stephanie Wilson, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov, who will travel aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket.
