Mr. Kavan Ratnayaka Assumes Chairmanship of Bank of Ceylon
On March 14th, 2024, Mr. Kavan Ratnayaka, a distinguished figure in both the public and private sectors, commenced his role as Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon (BOC), the nation’s premier state bank. He succeeds Mr. Ronald C. Perera (PC), who held the position since January 2023.
Mr. Ratnayaka boasts extensive experience across various domains including finance, banking, telecommunications, technology, tourism, and media. He has previously held leadership positions in notable organizations such as the National Development Bank PLC (NDB), Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL), Cargills Ceylon PLC, Dialog Axiata PLC, and IBM Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, Mr. Ratnayaka has served on the boards of KBSL (Pvt) Ltd and Agility Innovations (Pvt) Limited, and holds trusteeships at the Jayam Wijeratnam Trust and the Dialog Foundation. He has also been actively engaged in various industry associations, including the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), the Employers Federation of Ceylon (EFC), and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).
Mr. Ratnayaka is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside Campus, holding a Bachelor of Science in Physics, and is an alumnus of Royal College.
The welcoming ceremony for Mr. Ratnayaka at the BOC Tower in Colombo Fort was attended by Bank of Ceylon CEO, Mr. Russel Fonseka, along with his senior team members.
