Thai Airways International Inks General Sales Agency (GSA) Agreement with MAC Holdings Private Limited; Flights Resuming from April 1, 2024, Ex-BKK
In a significant development, Thai Airways International has signed a General Sales Agency (GSA) agreement with MAC Holdings Private Limited, solidifying their partnership for the Sri Lankan and Maldivian regions. The airline is set to resume its operations between Colombo and Thailand, with the first flight from Colombo scheduled for April 1, 2024.
MAC Holdings will proudly serve as the airline’s forefront General Sales Agent in the region, facilitating the re-establishment of the route that will feature daily flights connecting to over 60 international destinations, along with additional domestic routes.
Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Thai Airways played a crucial role in sustaining essential air cargo services, including P2C charter flights to Sri Lanka. The resumption of direct flights between Colombo and Bangkok marks a significant milestone in Thai Airways’ re-entry into the Sri Lankan market, following a three-year absence due to pandemic-related disruptions and economic challenges.
Thailand’s national carrier, renowned for its extensive network covering Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, Scandinavia, and Europe, is geared up to commence operations on March 31, 2024. The daily flights will offer an early morning departure from Colombo, arriving in Bangkok in the morning hours, providing tourists with ample time at their respective destinations. Passengers with connecting flights beyond Thailand can expect a seamless and hassle-free transfer with immediate connecting flights.
Bangkok, with its vibrant nightlife, outstanding cuisine, and rich history and culture, is a renowned leisure destination in the region. As the capital city of Thailand, it serves not only as a hub for tourism but also plays a pivotal role in religious, economic, and trade activities.
Thai Airways’ return to the Sri Lankan market underscores the airline’s commitment to revitalizing air travel in the region and strengthening the connectivity between Asia, Australia, Korea-Japan, Europe, and Scandinavia. Thailand continues to be a preferred leisure destination for Sri Lankans, and Bangkok’s strategic location makes it an ideal transit hub for connecting flights.
